Many parents assume missed services are simply lost. Often they don't have to be.
The gap doesn't close on its own
Instruction a child missed in second grade still shows in fourth grade. Reading and math build on what came before, and the further behind a child falls, the more support it takes to catch up.
It's the child's entitlement
The services in an IEP aren't a favor. Federal law entitles a child with a disability to them, and compensatory services exist precisely to make up for what wasn't delivered.
It costs you nothing
Our help is free. Awarded services are paid by the DOE, not by the family. Under federal law a parent who prevails may be able to recover reasonable attorney's fees from the district, which is why the attorneys we refer families to don't charge the family. Confirm this in writing before you sign anything.
It can be done without a fight
Many cases settle at or before the resolution stage. Filing is a formal request, not a lawsuit against your child's teachers, and your child's place at school isn't at risk because you asked.
The hours can be used flexibly
Awards are often delivered as after-school or weekend tutoring, at home or online, around the child's schedule.
