A short, factual letter does two things: it may get services started, and it creates a record.
Include
- Your child's name, grade and school
- The service the IEP requires and since when it has been missing
- A request that the service start right away
- A request for make-up services for the missed time
- A request for a written reply by a set date
Tone
Stay factual and polite. Aim to keep a clear record without arguing.
If nothing changes, the next step is usually a due process complaint.
